Summary: One of Scotland's leading entrepreneurs and philanthropists, Mrs Ann Gloag, delivered the inaugural public lecture in Glasgow Caledonian University School of Health. The lecture entitled, 'Maternal Health in Africa' took place on Monday 15th November. Mrs Gloag, a former nurse, has focused for many years on providing support to a range of health projects here in Scotland and overseas. In this presentation we hear about those experiences and Mrs Gloag reflects on the lessons she has learned about health development initiatives, their impact and sustainability. The School of Health at GCU was launched officially by HRH The Princess Royal at a ceremony in Glasgow earlier this year. It is Scotland's largest School of Health, with a research programme rated in the top ten in the UK.
