Summary: As mentioned in the previous chapter, a penetration tester must understand the legal implications of hacking a network, even in an ethical manner. The laws applicable to hacking are mainly defined in the Computer Misuse Act 1990 and the Police and Justice Act 2006 which includes anti-hacking legislation. Other laws, such as the Data Protection Act, are also extremely relevant.
