Summary: Professor Tony Blunden examines the reasons why modelling of qualitative operational risk data is not currently used by many firms, how it can be used, and the benefits (and disadvantages) of use. In addition, shows and analyses some of the outputs from a model that uses qualitative operational risk data, and considers how it can be used in the future. Professor Blunden has worked in the City of London for over 30 years primarily within risk management and related areas in financial services organisations. Prior to Chase Cooper, he spent four years as Director of Operational Risk within the Financial Services Risk Management Practice at Ernst & Young. His area of focus is the identification and development of clients’ needs in operational risk management, MiFID compliance and conference speaking and writing articles.
