Summary: Part of the online Caledonian CPD Series. Investigating dampness in buildings is an holistic process often involving looking at the whole building and sometimes the wider environment. Identifying the existence of a defect or a symptom of dampness is only the first part of an overall investigation into what causes the dampness to occur and what is the source of the problem. For far too often Surveyors have relied solely on electrical resistance and capacitance meters, which are a useful tool, but on their own cannot always pin point causation and more importantly where the dampness has come from. This film is a journey through a building looking at various diagnostic techniques and an introduction to a range of equipment to help pin point where and how the dampness has become manifest.
