The Research and Innovation Office at GCU are hosting a webinar with staff from the Knowledge Transfer Network and West of Scotland KTP Centre on Thursday 29th October 2020 on Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs). We are delighted to be joined by Jim Berryman from KTN, the Knowledge Transfer Adviser for the Central Belt of Scotland and GCU’s nominate Adviser. Jim will be joined by Andrew Kinnear from the West of Scotland KTP Centre.
This will be an opportunity to hear about the Management Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (mKTP) directly from an Innovate UK KTP Adviser and the West of Scotland KTP team and hear about developments across the KTP landscape.
The webinar will take place from 10.00 - 11.00.
There are also a limited number of times available for a one-to-one drop in with Jim between 11am and 1pm. If you have a potential project that you wish to discuss, please email janette.wark@gcu.ac.uk.
What are KTPs?
Innovation is the lifeblood of any business. Never more so than in today’s challenging economic climate.
But how do you access and embed the leading expertise, facilities and thinking that are needed to make innovation happen? Whether the knowledge required is in management skills, new technologies, or manufacturing processes, a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) may be the answer.
One of the UK government’s longest running and most successful knowledge transfer programmes, KTPs help companies big and small to innovate for growth and profit, linking forward-thinking organisations with leading academic teams to deliver new products, services and capabilities.
Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs) are dynamic, three way partnerships that link a business, an expert academic team and a suitably qualified graduate. Together the KTP team collaborates to deliver a strategic project - sharing expertise, experience and resources to bring about change, embed knowledge and deliver growth. A unique type of match-funding, KTP is all about collaboration, with projects lasting from between 12 months to three years.
What are Management KTPs?
Management KTPs (MKTPs) operate in the same way as KTPs but with the focus specifically on management-based projects to increase business efficiency and help generate growth via partnerships with Business Schools.
MKTPs take a wide view, incorporating a range of leadership and management skills and requirements to build a strategy that drives change and improves business performance. Spanning all key business functions - from marketing to IT, creativity to strategic management; HR to employment relations; finance to logistics - MKTPs seek to support strategic management projects across all core business activities.

The webinar is your chance to discover more about how KTPs work, and what the specific opportunity is for companies that may wish to participate in a Management KTP. Jim and Andrew will provide a guide to the application process, the management areas covered by the MKTP and the types of companies most likely to benefit from participating in a MKTP. |
