Summary: In Britain clay bricks are a significant building material. We enjoy a remarkably rich choice, reflecting not only the variety of the different clays, but also the diversity of manufacturing methods. This film shows sequences from representative contemporary brickworks. It shows how clay bricks are formed by hand-making, machine moulding, pressing and extrusion, and shows how they are fired in traditional kilns and continuous-burning multi chamber and tunnel kilns.
