Summary: High Gothic to Hi Tech (A short history of British architecture). The architecture of our towns and cities can, at first sight, seem a bewildering jigsaw puzzle of different styles from different ages. This film explains the evolution and development of British Architecture over the last 500 years. From the medieval cathedral to today's 'hi-tech', each period of British architecture is explored. Social, cultural and technical changes that were the engines of progress are placed in their proper context to provide a concise introduction to the modern urban landscape.
