Summary: DASA Defence and Security Accelerator webinar Tuesday 23rd March 2021 12:05pm-1pm The Research and Innovation Office at GCU are hosting a webinar on Tuesday 23rd March 2021 to meet our Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) Innovation Partner in Scotland, Dr Debra Carr. Debra will be introduced by Jim Castle, GCU’s Veterans and Armed Forces Champion. More information The Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) is 3.5 years old and in that time has brought £7.6M to Scotland from Central Govt.; 60% of the funding in Scotland has gone to universities. DASA finds and funds exploitable innovation to support UK defence and security quickly and effectively, and support UK prosperity. Their vision is for the UK to maintain its strategic advantage over its adversaries through the most innovative defence and security capabilities in the world. DASA is a cross-Government organisation, launched in December 2016 by the Secretary of State for Defence. Who are DASA? DASA is a cross-Government team of nearly 50 people from a wide range of backgrounds including Defence, security, the private sector and academia. They have 11 regionally based innovation partners, covering the length and breadth of the UK. Format of Webinar Debra will be joining GCU virtually on Zoom to share information about the current research funding opportunities from DASA - Defence and Security Accelerator. They help find and fund exploitable innovations which support the defence and security of the UK faster and more effectively, and seek to generate economic value for the UK. We would like to encourage researchers at any stage in their career to begin to forward ideas to Debra who will be happy to advise on the day .
