You are now more than half way through the six weeks of Prepare for Success. Last week we paused to provide resources to help you thrive and to re-enforce your self belief. In addition to completing the weekly resources, remember to visit the basecamp by selecting the rescue helicopter. There you will find a link to online maths support and an interesting exercise called the success iceberg. You can also watch the video ‘The Happy Little Cloud’.
• It is stealing, that's right theft!
• You deny yourself honest feedback for self-improvement
• It’s disrespectful to your peers and the staff that are teaching you
• And the consequences can be severe when you are caught, expulsion can result.

If you have not already done so, create an account in Future Learn. You should be starting the third week of the free online course Technical Report Writing for Engineers.
It is really important that you maintain high standards of academic integrity. Everything that you write needs to be informed and properly referenced. Plagiarism is defined in the Assessment Regulations as 'the deliberate and substantial unacknowledged incorporation in a student’s work of material derived from the work (published or unpublished) of another'.
To put it in a simple way, plagiarism means theft. Plagiarism is pretending that someone else’s work is your own. This includes material from books, journals and the web, as well as from your friends or other students.
After watching the introductory video select the Launch Activity button and access the first activity on the perils of plagiarism. Listen to the presentation and summarise in your workbook why you should not plagiarise.
