Summary: | In the first lecture of this Seminar Series 2014-2015, Phil Hanlon, Professor of Public Health at Glasgow University, delivers a review of the first 10 years of the Glasgow Centre for Population Health (GCPH). GCPH was established 10 years ago to create fresh thinking in the confrontation of Glasgow's intractable public health problems. The Seminar Series has been one of the chief ways in which this fresh thinking has been developed and shared. He discusses what has been learned and the implications of what has been learned for the health of Glasgow. He suggests a large number of themes that matter, for example, history, determinants of health, economy, inner life, transformational change and resilience, ecology. He discusses how these themes have given a fresh perspective on what needs to happen in Glasgow. |
