Summary: This film traces the development of windows over the last 500 years or so. It shows how, and why, styles have changed and explains how both timber and PVC windows are manufactured. Most windows in the UK are still made from wood; to reflect this the film describes forestry techniques and shows a modern saw-mill in operation. The film also identifies some of the ways in which windows can be built into modern cavity walls. This film was updated in 2006 with new graphics. It includes information on: window styles, timber conversion, making timber windows, plastic windows and glazing.
